No Sew Baby Tutu for Eva

Another project I'm working on is this no sew Tutu.  I got the idea off a Youtube video which I will post the link to once the tutu is complete and because I have to look for it again.  I want to add a row or two more for added fullness.  The materials I used were Tulle, Organza, and a crochet stretch headband to which I added my strips of tulle to.

You'd be surprised how easy this is to make and how expensive they can sell for at department stores! Mine so far has cost me under $5 bucks to make! I'm looking forward to making a lot more :)

Crafts for Baby

Just wanted to share a few more crafts I've done for Eva.  I've made her a few flowers from Tulle, and a baby bib from 2 different Fat Quarter prints I picked up at Walmart. I made the bib for less than $1.00 considering each Fat Quarter is .99 cents and I still have fabric left over.  I did the back of the bib from an old T-Shirt Vic didn't use anymore to give it more fullness.  I have 2 other bibs I've done for her but need to post pics of. I'm not quite done with the Tulle flowers, I am going to further embellish the centers by adding a jewel, rhinestone, or some other fun embellishment.  I've also made her some bows...this is just one of the many I've made so far.  And I'm currently working on a baby dress for her first month out of the womb! Once I have that complete, I'll post a pic :)

This is a picture of me last week on 4/9. I'm 26 weeks here and my stomach literally grew overnight!
She is literally just popped out and is making her precence well known in this world

Here is a baby bib I completed last week. I'm so proud of this one as its completely finished and the seams are nicely done. I embellished this bib with a bow and some ribbon for a pop of color.

I made her these bows a few weeks ago and need to update this picture as I've now embellished the centers with pink organza roses I made.  The finished ones look a lot nicer.

I'm having a GIRL!

Meet Evanny, named after her granmother Eva. She's still chillin inside the womb, getting all sorts of gorgeous, getting some meat and fat on her tiny lil bones.  The doctors and radiologist say she's going to be one hell of a "traviesa" as she is always kicking, jumping, and playing hiding seek.  She gave her radiologist such a hard time ths past Friday when she needed to take shots of her kidneys to make sure everything was comeing together great but Nooo...Evanny had other plans. She kept hiding, turning, twisting, and jumping about her play place and kept teasing the radiologist.  Just when the radiologist thought she had Evanny in place for a shot, Evanny decided maybe she would give her a run for her money and decided to move about some more.  Finally, after about a 1/2 hour, the ultrasound was over and we had to say "hasta luego" to Evanny.  I start feeling flutters in my lower abdomen and at first I was confused and wasn't sure if it was Evanny or not, but now I know she's in there, reminding me of her precense everyday.  I love her so much already and can't wait to meet her.  I was once very confused and scared at her arrival in my body, but now I'm glad she's come to turn my life around and fill me with so much love and joy.  I'm so happy to be expecting a little angel and I can't wait to meet her in July if god permits!  Te quiero mucho Evanny! Mommy and Daddy love you so much, and your Grandma too!

Made my First Baby Bow

Supplies Used:
Peaches & Creme Striped Yarn in 4 Ply 100% Cotton - Worsted Weight
Size "G" Crochet Hook (4.25mm)
1/8" Celebrate It Shimmer Ribbon
1 Single Prong Alligator Clip

I've been getting all sorts of creative now that I know I'm expecting a baby girl! I been getting crafty and been into making her a blanky, some bows, and all kinds of other ideas in mind.  Today I made her this cute lil crochet bow with the help of bobwilson123 and by watching her video on Youtube on How to Crochet a Bow

To glam it up a bit, I added 1/8" shimmering ribbon to the center of the bow.

Lastly, I inserted a single prong alligator clip to the back of the bow.

I made a few others and messed with the different size gauges on the hooks.  I found that the size "G" worked best as it kept everything taught and neat.  I used a size "J" hook and although it was a tad bigger, I felt it looked more loose, I think the "J" hook will work just as good, but with a different yarn material that isn't cotton.

New Laws in California

Morning,

I was reading the paper this morning and came across a list of all the new laws Gov. Jerry Brown signed for CA.  Among them, some of which I am proud:

"Prison phones: makes it a crime for cell phones to be smuggled into state prisons and allows increased time behind bars for inmates caught with them."
Inmates are in prison for a reason and they should not be allowed to communicate through our networks such as FB or twitter for "penpals" or to harass their previous victims.

"Job applicants: bars employers from using credit reports in deciding whether to hire someone."

I'm so glad this law was passed because our personal financial issues should not have anything to do with the way we work or our professional character, our personal finances are nobody's business and should not be a reason for someone to get hired or not.

"Human trafficking: requires large retailers and manufacturers to publicly report what steps they take to make sure those providing their supplies and products are not engaging in slavery and human trafficking."

I'm glad that CA is making large retailers like Wal-Mart and Target take steps in the avoidance of slavery and human trafficking but I also hope that CA also makes an effort to follow up on such reports and that indeed no human trafficking or slavery is taking place behind the products that large retailers provide to its consumers.

"Restaurants: may use up their supplies of shark fins purchased before Jan. 1. After that, sale of shark fins will be illegal."

I'm so glad this law was passed as I just found out earlier this year that hundreds of thousands of sharks were being fished from the sea, their fins removed, and tossed back in the ocean to drown.  Such a shame what man will do for a dollar without taking into measure the consequences that it will bring upon our food chain and the environment.  Every animal placed on this earth has it's purpose in the eco-system and I'm so glad that this has been banned in CA and I hope that in time it will be banned world-wide.
